Indoor Air Quality

Dehumidifier Service in West Palm Beach, FL

PROFESSIONAL INDOOR AIR QUALITY PRODUCT INSTALLATION & REPAIR

If there’s one thing Florida is famous for, it’s our weather. Florida’s annual climate can feature everything from a mild, beautiful winter filled with sun and palm trees to spring and summer months packed with blistering heat, sweltering humidity, and a ton of rain. Humidity is a huge problem that we constantly have to deal with, even indoors where our air conditioning is supposed to take care of so much of it. If you find that your air conditioner still isn’t removing enough humidity from your home, or that you struggle with things like mold and mildew growth as well as a feeling of stickiness while inside, you may benefit from a premium dehumidifier installed by the pros at Hi-Tech Plumbing & Air!

Here at Hi-Tech Plumbing & Air, we have proudly provided quality dehumidifier services for the entire West Palm Beach area for many years. We are more than just the team you can turn to when you need your air conditioner fixed—we offer a full range of services designed to help you control and perfect all aspects of your indoor air quality. When your indoor humidity is too high, we’ll help you pick the perfect dehumidification system and install it so that it works perfectly in conjunction with your current HVAC equipment. We can even set some of these systems up so they work with your thermostat and give you complete and total control over several characteristics of your indoor air. Signs I Have an Indoor Humidity Problem

What is your current indoor humidity level? 60 percent? 70? 80? Higher? What about the complete opposite end of the spectrum? Is your indoor humidity at 30 percent? 20? Zero? None of these are where your indoor humidity level should be at. While indoor humidity can vary from season to season (naturally drier air during winter changes your ideal indoor humidity target), it’s preferable to keep your indoor humidity level anywhere between 40 to 50 percent all year long. With an advanced dehumidifier system and a modern humidity-sensitive thermostat, you can take total control over your indoor humidity levels and keep your air feeling cool and comfortable.

How a Dehumidifier Works

Dehumidifiers use specialized hardware to extract humidity from the air. Humidity is essentially water that has evaporated and thus exists as vapor, or in its gaseous form. The easiest way to extract water when it is in a gas form is to bring it back into a solid form that can be controlled and contained, and this is done by using a chilled coil, similar to how your air conditioner works. The moist, humid air passes through this chilled coil, where the vapor quickly condenses into water, collects, and then drains away through a drain line. The air that passes through this coil then comes out rather cool, and that cool air is used to cool a condenser coil that creates the cold refrigerant needed to create the cold coil.

Unfortunately, this means the air that comes from your dehumidifier actually comes out quite hot, and thus it’s best to actually run the air that comes out from your dehumidifier back through your HVAC system to condition it and keep it cool before sending it into your home. You’ll often find dehumidifiers installed with their air intakes and exhausts located inside your HVAC system’s main air return vent.5
